Rising Junior @ Non Target w/ Accounting Internship
So, I am a junior at a non-target school. I am studying finance with a double minor in statistics and accounting. Focus on the point that I only want to minor in accounting, I am interested in finance. I have a 3.1 cumulative GPA(should continue to rise), but even my business core is higher.
Should I list my business GPA to show potential employers that other classes are hindering my GPA?
On top of my GPA, I am very involved at school... I have served on an executive board on a volunteering club(one term being treasurer), and serve other roles that have financial responsibilities.
However, I am trying to break into the field of finance after this summer. This summer I am working in an accounts receivable role at a school district in the greater Chicago area. I also worked here after my freshman year, managing other accounting responsibilities, along with payroll responsibilities.
Would I be able to use this experience to help leverage myself into an summer internship in a finance field? Is an accounting background desirable for recruiting?
Lastly, I have done some networking. I have yet to apply, because it is still summer(and I need to search for 2019). But, I have connections with a company who is more involved with Acquisitions and Mergers, and then another larger bank with more opportunities.
Which internship is more suited for my background? And what other steps should I take so that I am not falling behind and am able to find another internship next summer?
Non ea quia qui ut quisquam. Facilis asperiores rerum asperiores sed.
