Worried about delayed written offer

So I went through a couple rounds of phone, video and onsite interviews for a BB associate position (lateral) and received a verbal offer around Christmas when we discussed comp. I was told that it would take a couple days to get the written offer to sign but it has been almost a month. I understand that it was holiday seasons and key ppl are in/out of office but every time i followed up with HR, i was simply told to wait because it is still in pending status. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Should i be worried that the offer will be rescinded? The job id was delisted ever since i accepted the verbal offer. What could be some cause of the delay?

Any insight will be appreciated!

Typical reasons for delays,

  • HR is slow & lazy and they're in no hurry to get your offer letter ready
  • Paperwork is in the pipeline. Many people need to approve your offer before it can be sent to you. People have been on vacation / OOO from late Dec-mid Jan. Your offer is slowly moving through the bank's bureaucracy and probably inefficient HR systems.
  • Senior managers who need to sign off on your offer are OOO / hard to reach

It's unlikely your position has been eliminated since they would let you know if that were the case (and if not, I wouldn't ever want to work at a firm which rescinds offers without notice)
