Advice needed - firm creation?

Hi everyone,

I am seeking advice from people who have been through and considered / have launched their own boutique, but open to any feedback - and in advance - that’s much appreciated.

Background: I come from a low income family, raised by one parent, no advanced studies. I cherish my upbringing as although it was really rough, what kept us sane was our values, of hard work, caring, responsibilities, and entrepreneurship.
These have brought me from nowhere, to attend a semi-target, multiple master’s, and discovering Finance literally starting from FP&A/Control etc. to landing in front office Investment Banking.

Nonetheless I always felt a gap, of work involvement, grit, and sincerity anywhere I landed - which is why I stayed a high level athlete while working as it enabled me to match this very competitive but also straightforward side of effort.
As I wanted more value added, I left IB to move to distressed situations. But again there, I felt I was overreaching and was fed up with in house politics. Being brought up with not a lot made me very straight to the point and honestly said - i couldn’t care less of the nice guy - I have always wanted bring value added and care to clients - not fuss around for the next promotion, and this is something I have been living by.

As this feeling is growing by the day, I am considering launching my own firm as I see the value I could bring - without waiting for the 20+ years of experience just spinning myself off.
This is not something new - I have had this on my mind for a couple of years now but did not take the leap for obvious security reasons and also some fear that before MD - people wouldn’t care.

But I find this view completely terrible and I am ready to grind - just need to know if for the people who have done so - there is a risk to hit a wall if launching alone.

Has anyone been in this situation / are there things you have done / and for some was launching your firm the solution too.
