Bougie Experiences Abroad?

Assuming things back to semi-normal later in the year or early next year, any bougie experiences abroad?

A trip last year involved staying a weekend in south of France, taking a helicopter to Monaco and spending a weekend there.

An idea would be to visit Italy and spend some time in Modena to test drive ferraris.

Any other cool bougie ideas you’ve done?

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

What makes you think that things will be normal within the year or even early next year? Things will not be normal until there is a vaccine. My MD even commented negatively about an analyst talking about flight deals on a zoom call - you come off uneducated and selfish when you say shit like this, and it makes people question your judgment

It’s not an argument of when planes will fly again. It’s a matter of your not giving a fuck about other people who might not be as low risk as you and possibly carrying it with you to every place in which you step foot. I am sure your intent is to just get away for a bit, but it communicates that you think that your boredom is more important than other people’s lives

P.s. I've noticed that it's always indeed the middle class that actively seeks out things like yachts and helicopters and infinity pools. Gauche af

yachts:  how is this gauche, yachts go back hundreds of years.  Yachts are literally standard aristocrat fare.

helicopters:  “You never know how many friends you have until you get a helicopter.” - pete peterson, close friend of the Rockefellers, very patrician guy.  Not gauche.

infinity pools:  why is this gauche, there's an infinity pool at the Breakers, america's capital of WASPiness

You don't need to ride a ferrari in Italy to have a "bougie" travelling experience. Seeing another country's culture, museums, history, nightlife, is one of the most extraordinary things one can do.

I'll take staying in a hostel for 5 days and getting to know locals, culture, history, and club scene over riding lambos in a foreign country and eating at only Michelin star restaurants any day.

Look dude I get you but staying at hostels is just flat out gross... I did it and just hated it. I don't get how people enjoy it.

Staying at a Ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) in Japanese Onsen (hot springs) town with a dining dress code serving kaiseki that costs $150+ a meal for half a week + personal assistant attached to a room.

I did this and really enjoyed in Hakone.  Had an in-room onsen.  Was around $600 per night. Kaiseki meal was delicious and fun/special. I’d like to do this again but next time with a view of Mt Fuji from my room.

Side note: I had to deal with a work emergency back in the US so my in-room onsen time was cut by 75% and I was worrying and on my laptop.  Turned out it was not a big deal.
