Countries still open to Americans for vacation?

I am taking two weeks off in May and need a good spot for vacay and am itching to do some international travel again. Only problem is, I live in plague-infested land and the American passport is pretty much on par with Afghanistan in terms of usefulness. Asia is pretty much a no go, because they controlled the virus with social distancing and mask-wearing. I am unlikely to get into the EU Schengen area either, but I want to stay as far away as possible from Christine Lagarde as humanly possible so not necessarily a bad thing. So this basically leaves Latin America, a handful of eastern European countries, Africa, tropical islands, and the poor countries that can't afford to keep Americans out.

Right now, I'm thinking about Dubai which I've never been to (but that seems like it would get boring for two weeks and more of a weekend trip), gorilla-trekking in Rwanda and maybe Tanzania and DRC, Albania (European beaches and mountains not closed to Americans), or maybe some tropical island somewhere. I am also open to domestic travel destinations, but I've been to 45 states and pretty much every single major city so I feel like I've already seen everything in the US.

And no I'm not worried about getting or spreading COVID, I got it in December so I should still have antibodies lol. Have you guys traveled internationally recently? Any good vacation spots still open to Americans without 14 day quarantines?

There is a chill surf village called Sayulita in Mexico. West coast. You fly into Puerto Vallarta and then drive north a little bit to reach the town. I've been there a couple of times. My sister used to live there. Always a good time.

Funniest

this looks promising, hopefully not some normie shit city like Tulum. God I can't wait until the cartels take over Tulum and put the annoying tourist thots in their place

There's a place I think you might enjoy

Unless you don't like sand

Lots of people like the Mayan ruins

United States sucks right now so it's not there

Maybe you'd like to go to Mexico?

Read the first letter of each sentence for the city you simp

TULUMR

Dubai for 2 weeks is a stretch. But you can do other stuff. And not just the Louve in Abu Dhabi, which is pretty awesome, but there are genuine outdoor opportunities to hike and dive etc around the UAE which are apparently super underrated. Not to mention the food is awesome. I've never had the chance to do this stuff, so take with a grain of salt. But I know others who have who say great things.

Egypt is also open (pyramids, food, diving)... As is Turkey (food, history, culture). Istanbul (at least pre-COVID) is an amazing city on so many levels...

Or go to the Maldives!

Below is a list of places open to Americans.

Good Luck!

I used to do Asia-Pacific PE (kind of like FoF). Now I do something else but happy to try and answer questions on that stuff.

Is Egypt safe nowadays? I could maybe combine Egypt UAE and Turkey into a middle eastern trip, that would be an adventure. Would just need to do some DD in regards to PCR tests and covid restrictions

I'm sure its ok if you exercise the normal common sense and don't wander into political demonstrations...

If you're up for the long trip, Maldives is pretty much the only worthwhile destination open right now. The wife and I just had to cancel our 8 night honeymoon - not due to fear of getting COVID, but fear of testing positive and not being allowed back into the country. So we rescheduled for 2022. But that is the only place worth the risk. Mexico, Dubai, etc are not worth the risk of testing positive and being stranded there. Either go big in the Maldives or just stick with domestic trips only.

Tulum, Sayulita (mentioned above), or Puerto Escondido, Mexico depending on what you’re looking for (parties, surfing, how many tourists, beaches). Could also do a week in one place and go somewhere else. Domestic flights are dirt cheap. Just got back a 5 week vacation in Mexico and everything was open. Bring your mask everywhere, it’s required to wear it into most places (just to enter restaurants etc, then you can take it off) and some cops like to give out fines. Lots of places take your temperature and give you hand sanitizer but super easy. Bars, indoor dining, and clubs open.
