Probably uptown, lower greenville, or somewhere near Deep Ellum.

What kind of vibe do you want?

Immediate post college rowdy? Northern parts of Uptown (Post-Worthington, Gables Uptown Trail, Gables Villa Rosa)

Mid-late 20s yuppies? Southern parts of Uptown over to Victory Park (Glass House, Cirque, Christopher), West Village

Hipsters and artistic types? Bishop Arts, Cedars

Party crowd, nightlife workers, and artistic types? Deep Ellum

Older former fraternity / sorority members working professional jobs? Lower Greenville, Knox Henderson

Mid-tier professionals and nightlife workers? Oak Lawn, Ross Ave east of the highway (don’t go too far east)

High end professionals and wealthy entrepreneurs? Klyde Warren area (Park District, Atelier)

Professionals and younger families? State Thomas

Eclectic mix of high-end professionals and section 8 tenants? Central Downtown proper

Thanks! Really helpful. Not sure why you got a monkey shit. Definitely looking for an area with a cool bar scene and nightlife.

Your best options are going to be Uptown, Deep Ellum, and Lower Greenville. Of those, Deep Ellum has the best nightlife scene and the most unique feeling, but it’s also built entirely around that world.

Personally, I’d recommend living in either Uptown (if you prefer a more urban feel, high rises, etc.) or Lower Greenville (if you’d rather feel a little more residential) and taking the 5 minute uber from either over to Deep Ellum on the weekends, but any of the neighborhoods I mentioned will be a short ride from each other

Not to hijack, but I’m in the process of moving to Dallas as well (next month or so). Have never even been there, but an amazing career opportunity has presented itself. I lived in NYC for a few years out of undergrad and love the thought of being able to live in a high rise again. Any recommendations? How much is a 2x2 monthly?

I’m partial to the Uptown area - it’s centrally located, super close to everything, and has the greatest high rise density. You’re going to be looking at $2500-$4000 total for a high rise 2x2 depending on how upscale you want.

Some of my favorites are Park District and The Ashton (both expensive), Cirque and The Christopher (still pretty upscale), or Glass House and Gables Park 17 (on the more affordable side).

There are a couple new towers, Atelier and The Victor, opening up now that look pretty sick, but it’s too early to know much about them. Atelier intends to be more affordable than The Victor

Honorable mentions: One Uptown (cool concept but this part of McKinney Ave is changing away from nightlife and they’ve had trouble keeping their restaurant space occupied), Amli Fountain Place (great new building but it’s in a still-developing corner of downtown and wants to charge top tier prices)
