Ideas for Christmas travel?
Planning trip with parents for ~1 week over Christmas. Have done Iceland and various Caribbean / Central American spots in semi recent years, looking for cool new ideas. Considering places like Japan, Switzerland, Italy, etc. Could be a mix of adventurous and chill. Anybody have cool destination ideas for that time of year?
Argentina or Brazil or Uruguay
England/Scotland/Ireland always seem like Christmas destinations for me. Something about that area of the world.
Switzerland could be cool though from a "winter destination" perspective.
Seems cold.
I feel like Christmas is the one time of year that cold is acceptable
also Scandinavia and Germany for their delightful Christmas markets.
Good call. Also fits the Christmas feeling.
Where are you / your parents based? That plays a part for me in my planning especially for only a week’s trip - i.e. skiing in Japan sounds sick but if I’m losing 2-3 days on travel alone because I’m flying from NYC, then that has a material impact on where I’d be looking at.
If you’re at all religious, I’ve heard that the Italian cities are amazing during the holidays. Rome if you want to go to an unforgettable Mass, Florence, Salerno, Naples, all are splendid for Christmas.
