Rant: I hate my job

Rising sophmore in college
obviously i want to work in IB but i ended up landing a pretty good consulting firm internship so i went w it.
I have one week left so at this point theres really no point but i just wanted to rant.
basically i work 10-2am every weekday. Now id be fine w that if the work was actually helpful but im literally doing irrelevant research and interview notes.
I sucked it up bc of the name and cs id already signed but ifl 1) i blew my summer by having like zero fun with my friends when it's practically the last summer ill have before actual recruiting 2) i wasnt able to spend time on developing finance + soph summer recruiting and i missed out on so many opportunities
so tldr: ifl this summer has been a complete waste both socially and professionally
i realize im whining like a consultant and im sorry but j needed to get this out there

I hate my job too, but the sacrifice is worth it.

The job market is extremely competitive and will just keep on getting harder and harder to land a high a paying job.

You made the right decision to intern this summer. I miss being able to chill with my boys all summer. However when I compare the position I’m in to theirs, I’m glad I sacrificed my summer to work instead of partying

All my friends have no good work experience, shitty fast food / retail / customer service jobs and are still financed by their parents.

Just keep on grinding, one day it will be worth it.

I always check Instagram and all my friends are partying and getting drunk at the beach and going to clubs, while I’m slaving away at the office.

But then I think 5-10 yrs from now and compare. Todays sacrifice is tomorrows success.

Keep up the grind, but don’t work too hard, at the end of the day you are just an intern : )

What was your recruiting like for the consulting firm? When did you apply and how were interviews? Thinking about going for consulting over IB.
