Seamless meals paid for while WFH?
Some of my friends that interned in IB last summer said that they got to order $25 or $30 if they were going to be in the office until 8:00PM.
Now that everyone is working from home, do you still get to order food and charge it to the firm or client? That seems like a huge loss if analysts can no longer order from Seamless. Cooking dinner every night would suck if you have a lot of work to do!
Nope :( My firm is seeing this pandemic as an opportunity to cut costs on office space and other items.
these are billed to clients anyway and the bank is rarely ever on the hook
bump
no.
Most EBs (PWP, Gug, PJT, Allen, Moco,CVW) still cover nightly meals up to firm limit with exception of EVR which is doing a $100 weekly grocery.
Only JPM is of the BBs is covering nightly meals (to my knowledge) but each meal needs an approval email by manager/staffer.
Work in EVR, policy is $100 weekly grocery OR $30/night delivery
Was this the case for SA as well (EVR)?
BB shareholders scream no and say F U. There you go
Nope my bank isn’t allowing that even though i find myself working even longer at home..
Facts. I have become a very well paid slave. Don't even have time to work out 3x a week anymore.
fuck this sucks
My bank gives me free $25 stipend when I'm in the office. I'm happy though I'm not allowed to go in the office...
Nope city population me
My MM recently reinstated the meal policy when working past 7, but now manager approval is needed for every order. Its not as if I'm gonna bother my MD every night at 7 about my dinner plans though, so I haven't been using it.
There are some BBs in London that still allow to do this... No need for preapproval, just need to mention that you would have to cook and thats all. If you are out of Ldn you just need to justify that you are working long hours and you would have to wastr time cooking (need to explain it once)
At my MM, we were notified of some IRS law where if you are not in the office or traveling on business, meal stipends are considered taxable income and were told not to use it while working from home. Although I'm starting to get suspicious that no one else has heard this...
Actually my close friend working in corporate Tax Accounting told me something along those lines. It definitely has to do with that and also something about how in this scenario, firms legally can’t expense the meals to clients or something. I think the companies have to directly pay for the meals as an expense (which is why it would technically be considered additional income for us) vs making the clients pay for it
