should i get a fake?

I'll be working at a BB for full time next year, and will do training this summer in NY. I don't turn 21 until after training, and I don't have a fake. Will this prevent me from interacting and getting to know the other analysts? Should I get a fake, or will there be opportunities to network? (I drink, but only occasionally).

You'll be in training all day. Most of the analysts end up either breaking off into small groups and going out w/ each other or to be honest most end up meeting up w/ high school and college friends. Most of the networking and interaction takes place during training so you'll be fine. Esp if you don't drink, no need to go out of your way to get a fake and run the risk of possibly getting in trouble.

Most places that have happy hour downtown don't even id if everyone is dressed professionally. Some place in Mid-town id, but only on occasion especially if you are going for happy hour the earlier you get there the less likely they are to id. The more trendy places tend to id because more people want to get in. Also, if you go to places that serve food and they do id just say that you are getting dinner and you should be fine. If you can get a buddy's id that is 21 and looks like you it would be helpful if not you'll be fine.

I was out with a buddy of mine who's a junior in college (turns 21 in september) last week. We went out for drinks then had dinner and drank. Afterwards we met up with his girlfriend (under 21) and mutual friends (mixed crowd) of ours and went out to another bar down on 3rd and then another around Herald Square while waiting for the trains. While none of them were coming out dressed to the nines, they were dressed appropriately for going out in NYC and, as such, didn't draw much attention from the bouncer if there were any or the bartender and/or server. Outside of completely looking like you don't belong, as long as you look the part and don't seem out of place, you'll be fine. Plus, it helps walking into a place with a group of people who are well-dressed so it makes you blend in better. Some places you will be SOL and others you won't. Banker Hangouts, also, I've noticed, dont' card as much if you look like a banker or are with a bunch of bankers.
