Summer Houses (Hamptons/Montauk)

Are young people still going out to the Hamptons and Montauk? Everyone I know seems to be a slightly older crowd. Separately, how much have you paid to split a house in the past? Do you do a full month? How'd the split breakdown work?

Personally I always wanted to go when I was in banking but always found myself staffed on the busiest shit during the summer. However upon switching to PE, I found some colleagues would leave Friday evenings for long-term rentals they did with friends over the summer and come back sun night OR do what I do now, which is a weekend by weekend rental for more flexibility (given low flexibility at work) but super fun. For a decent house with 4-6 ppl can expect to pay 800-1000 for the weekend per head. I usually go with the SO and friends who have SOs so we split equally generally speaking

The Hamptons and Montauk have their own kinda charm, but you're spot on about the crowd being a bit older. It's like they've claimed the turf, right? When it comes to splitting a house, it's like a mixed bag of tricks. Some folks roll with a full month, while others opt for weekend getaways. The breakdown of costs usually hinges on fairness – if you're there more, you chip in more. It's all about finding that sweet spot. As for me, I'm more inclined towards a cozy small corner summer house for my garden. Found some solid options that fit my scene at https://www.scottsofthrapston.co.uk/corner-summerhouses/. Just feels more personal, you know? Having my own spot where I can kick back and soak up the sun without the hustle and bustle.
