Lincoln park and Old Town are great, provided you are close to the red line (brown/purple are good too but slower than red line). Fun and affordable with a lot of nightlife (bars, not clubs like river north). Not sure how they weren’t mentioned in that other thread considering that they are the two most popular neighborhoods for young people.
I’ll echo the comments above (Lincoln Park and Old Town are great spots with younger crowds and a lively bar scene), but, once you’ve lived in those spots and get a feel for the city, there are a lot of new high rises in River North popping up that are definitely a fun experience for a couple years (plus, they are typically walking distance to offices and they basically give you a month or two free of rent because the market is over saturated / competitive).
