ABS Interview (Please Help)
Hi,
I have an interview for an ABS related role coming up and am particularly worried that the model test will be out of my wheelhouse. I told the interviewer up front I would have no idea how to model complex ABS structures. However, I have had some experience modeling single tranche ABS deals (i.e., where there is clearly only one cash flow level and not multiple layers). Are there any ABS related model templates or any resources anyone has for me to leverage? Thank you in advance.
Is this like sell side? I have a buddy who did like an ABS type role at Citi and I don’t think he modeled once. But maybe that’s not what you’re talking about here.
Buyside role. In london
Analysts do have to model at Citi
Not in London. Heard they reserve modeling for associates to reduce the bank’s attrition of analysts. Harder to leave without modeling experience.
There’s a book by Keith Allman that walks you through how to model an abs waterfall with multiple tranches in excel.
Free pdf is available online, hope that helps.
Thanks. But is this too complex to do right before an interview?
