Anyone know the difference between Partner and Managing Director title at Apollo?
The typical path there is 4 years Associate, 4 years Principal, then Partner (then Senior Partner). Curious why you also see Managing Directors, and what that title connotes/denotes?
One is less cynical than the other
The MD title is relegated for the credit side of the business. You'll also see it in hybrid value, since that team was assembled from a mish mosh of credit and PE investment staff. The hybrid value guys that came from the credit side have the MD titles, the PE guys have Partner titles even if they're of the same vintage.
Thanks, this was my suspicion, any idea why they did this?
