Great culture and smart people. They've been shifting allocation towards PE so it's a great spot to be at the moment. They invest around the world so there's a ton of travelling that comes with the role, especially given that their only office is in Victoria.
Some of the other Eastern pension funds (e.g. OTPP) are actually seeing client withdrawals so PE AUM is not growing relatively as fast. With regards to allocation, PE brings in higher returns so clients want more exposure to that space.
For talent, it's tough competing with other Canadian peers cuz Victoria isn't for anyone. For placement after BCI some associates have jumped to GP's and gone to decent B-School's too.
Do they only have the main Victoria office for PE? Their real estate subsidiary, QuadReal, has offices in other cities (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, HK, NYC).

BCI prefers student from the universities that are close (UBC & SFU). But they have taken students from other schools as well. The interview involved a first round phone screen then a modeling test.

Glad to hear. Can you expand on the allocation shift towards PE? How do they place against other canadian pension funds?
