Burnt out in my job
Hey guys:
I've been in my current role for 2 years, and I feel incredibly burned out. For the most part, it's the people - the work has not been super intellectually stimulating, and the people are a bit back-stabby/love putting others down. That being said, I know this is kind of normal in PE industry.
I'd ideally want more intellectual stimulation, and less bs from people (more gentle team). I know HF can offer intellectual stimulation, but heard the people aspect are even worse. With 2 year PE experience on my resume, and if I'm not interested in corporate route, what are some other roles I can pursue if I want to optimize intellectual stimulation, with medium amount of stress, and relatively kind people? Would long-only equities be a good fit? What about some smaller IM firms that might have flexible mandate?
More importantly, those who are industry veterans - I feel like burnout is something that everyone experiences, how do you deal with it?
Thanks!
try VC or growth equity. the company's are more interesting.
Long only mutual funds i'd avoid. small / mid sized HF could work but very team dependent. Lots of turnover as well.
