This seems to be common at smaller / newer shops - carry is mentioned in offer letters but the docs are never actually shared for the actual economics...my close friends and myself have been the victim of this, and have tried to start interviewing 8-9 months in (VP+ level), as getting a role itself takes 6+ months, so I wouldn't waste time.


In interviews though, not sure saying that you were duped on carry is the best reason for leaving, so would find a different story there

 

Ya agreed. Literally the offer letter stated 25% of the carry pool and I'm being offered 5%. F that. Lol
