infrastructure is a type of investment, it can be public or private. there's a thing called ppp (public private partnership) where govt forks out some $ and works in partnership with private investors like macquarie from australia to build infrastructure things like highways...

do they also invest in companies that builds infrastructure, rather than just investing directly into the roads, bridges,etc.?

so the skills aren't that relevant to PE compared to the skills u gain in IBD right?

 

yeah when you buy stock of companies that build these things, like mac bank stock. also they can invest in infrastructure funds (fund raising vehicle by direct investors). i think it's good skills to have if you want to be in ib cos in the US infrastructure / util sector is growing rapidly.

what do you know about macquarie's prescence in the US? I know they're almost exclusively involved with infrastructure, but what's their reputation? would working there give you the same types of exit opps as normal IB?
