PE BD Professionals - thoughts on the lateral market right now?
I've chatted with a few here over DMs but figured I'd make a dedicated thread for more thoughts/observations. I've seen a handful of mid-level opps (VP/Director) but it feels like most searches have been at the Analyst/Associate or MD/head of BD level. What are y'all seeing out there?

Post-Christmas bump.
Bump for 2023 - been amusing to watch the BD moves on LinkedIn today, hah.

nothing ongoing for the mid-level / senior level. terribly slow market
Damn, hope that's not a sign of things to come. Was in one process end of 2022 for a VP/Director level and missed out (HH feedback was they decided to go more junior, i.e., cheaper, but haven't seen the hire announced yet so TBD if they were just blowing smoke) and am in process for one VP slot now that's been slow rolling due to the holidays.
Someone has to help deploy this record dry powder!
yes frustrating to see but i've been experiencing similar things. firms are a) dragging out their processes, b) after final rounds, may decide not to pull the trigger at all or c) just testing waters for interested participants and d) if offered, may decide to just low-ball or go for a cheaper junior resource. i've been through several processes for mid-level where one was 10 rounds and after final, they said probably not the right time now for them, and another process ended up hiring someone significantly more junior
Curious as well. Are firms and their recruiters looking to fill mid level seats due to recent departures, or add BD resources at PE firms that haven’t had an individual dedicated to sourcing in the past?
I've seen all sorts of scenarios. People moving upmarket leaving vacant seats, people switching into sponsors roles in banking, firms looking to expand the team, up-and-coming funds hiring a dedicated BD professional and/or building out a team, etc.
Anyone know which HH had that mandate for Rotunda? Never got pinged on it.
Looks like the market is starting to pick up everywhere except NY. Have heard of VP and above seats in Denver, Miami, Boston, Charlotte, and Salt Lake City. Damn.
Alright y'all should be done digging out of emails from ACG TX by now.

Pinged for a Director role in CHI.
LongRange finally hired a head of BD (search has been open since Oct '22) and Bertram just filled its midwest spot.
Boyne just reposted the VP BD position on LinkedIn if anyone is interested in a Miami gig.
Anyone have info on Council Capital in Nashville? They posted a BD role, trying to figure out their model and what part of the healthcare market they play in.
