Recruiter Reactions to Being Let Go

I was recently let go by my firm. I was an analyst (Midwestern investment bank) and I had an Associate offer for my group but my MDs discovered I was recruiting for the buyside and rescinded the offer.

My question is about recruiters’ reactions. I was a top-bucket analyst and have great reviews to show for it. I can also provide a reference to those who would ask.

Has anyone gone through anything like this with recruiters before? Would be great to hear how people reacted—positively or negatively.
