Recruiting Firm Using Same HH As Your Firm
A lateral opportunity at another firm uses the same HH that my firm uses (and brought me on board). 1) Are they allowed to recruit me? 2) I'm worried that word will come around to my firm (which HH has a great and longstanding relationship with). Am I overreacting? Advice on how to navigate this would be appreciated.
Most HHs have it in their contract that they can't poach from clients - especially if you're under the generally accepted 2 years of tenure. Another HH (maybe newer to the firm) may not be aware of this. I personally would not pursue this unless you've hit that 2 year mark
I also would warn against even being over that two year mark, head-hunting associates is all about the relationship with the firm given that there is a huge pool of willing candidates that are qualified (not as prevalent in mid-senior levels given funneks) so not really worth it to potentially damage a firm level relationship for 10+ associates over a couple years to pick off a sole lateral associate.
