What is your current comp, and does the fund where you received an offer know if your current comp?
If the new place is below or = to current comp you’d probably be able to make a case for an increase, but if the new place is higher than they could say they’re compensating you appropriately for the COL increase. Another thing to consider is that associate comp is probably fairly standardized at the fund, so they may not be able to pay you higher base than other associates in your class for that reason.
OP here. I think my take home after adjusting for cost of living will be about the same. The firm does not know my current comp, however. My instinct is to accept the offer and not negotiate. At the end of the day, ~$10k (or whatever I could get from negotiating) won't mean much to me 5 years from now, but this opportunity (relative to where I am at) will, and I have to prioritize the long-term.
