Vista Equity Partners SA24 Offer

Recently received an offer for Vista Summer 2024, as part of their private equity summer analyst program.

Wondering what the forum's thoughts are on this? Pretty interested in tech (not gonna lie and say I'm a diehard software lover) and goal is long term career in private equity, so am leaning heavily towards accepting. They have a very strong track record of internal promotions, I don't really mind Austin/Chicago, instead of NY/SF, (in fact may prefer the former), and really have liked the ppl I've spoken to there as well.

Obviously may seem like a no brainer, but Vista is struggling to fundraise at the moment (11B/20B last I've heard), but not sure if this bump in the road greatly matters, especially at the entry level where goal is to maximize learning, and Vista analysts are focused on execution, and associates (commonly A2A) hold the model, so seems like those boxes are checked off.

It also seems like a LOT of shit is thrown at Vista on this website, and I am not entirely sure which parts are the nonsense and which ones I should seriously take into account.

Wondering what someone's honest opinion would be if in my shoes, thanks a lot

Take it lol, if you prefer tech there's pretty much nothing better in terms of vertical buyout firms...

That's probably it and it's already grasping at straws...for enterprise software can't beat Thoma/Vista as well

Firstly, OP, your timeline doesn't add up. If you did the diversity rounds, the offers and waitlist offers have already been accepted or exploded. If you're non-diversity, no offers have been given. Offers also typically explode in under two days, so unless "recently" was last night, it's exploded. They also do have an office in SF. Your fundraising number is incorrect, but even then, I wouldn't call 11B/20B in less than a year "struggling." Everyone I've known or worked with on deals at Vista has been exceptional and genuinely interesting. They also have one of the best-reputed training programs for their analysts. Vista/Silver Lake, out of undergrad, is the best position to start for tech. Unless you also have a Silver Lake offer, choosing between either/or is just a thought exercise.

Would also add that the fundraising environment in 2022, and heading into 2023, has been exceptionally difficult. Maybe Vista is "struggling" in comparison to how easy they have raised funds in the past, but I dont think that's an accurate comparison

Take Vista/SL if you know you're interested in tech -- no one better in the space along with TB, period.

Just to come back to something you mentioned, do Vista's offers typically explode in 2 days? That seems like an extremely short period of time
