This is true. And you have to assume you won’t get good references bc of this. So look for another job while you stay there. It’s 1,000 times easier to find something while you have something. And if you’re looking while employed no one is going to expect a reference from your current job.

Even if they want you out - use your remaining time to search for work while still getting paid. Do the bare minimum to not fired. But even if they do fire you then at least you get unemployment pay unless you drop the ball enough to give them cause to fire “for cause”. Firing for cause requires written warnings, etc so you’ll see it coming.

Resigning immediately (without something lined up) does nothing to benefit you except give a middle finger to your bosses.

Take Warren Buffet’s advice. To paraphrase: You can always tell someone to fuck off tomorrow. That option never goes away. But if you tell someone to fuck off today - you cant take it back - you gotta deal with the repercussions. And any repercussions are bound to hurt you in some way.

I’ve got a few people on my list to tell “fuck off” when the time is right. But there’s no reason to make enemies until I have “fuck you” money.

Agree with your post except for this last part. When you are 55 and have plenty of money and comfort, you will not be able to tell the boss who screwed your 30 years ago to fuck off.

Not saying that you should necessarily do that, but you are kidding yourself if you think that you'll get the opportunity again in most cases.

This is just me talking personally perhaps not the best advice in the world.

I would tell them that you would prefer to leave immediately given that you received a zero bonus but you will extend them the courtesy of two weeks if they wish.

That way, you get to say a polite "F-you" to them while also showing that you are a better and more professional person than they are.

From a straight career perspective, of course, the best advice is always to bend over and take it in the ass as you suggest above.

That's why I acknowledge that it's perhaps not good advice but from a personal level, it might be something worth doing. Just up to you.

I'm one of the older users on here and honestly looking back, one of my regrets is not telling as many people to f#*k themselves as I should have at least in a very polite sort of way.

Fuck them just like they fucked you.

Get something lined up but don’t quit until it’s locked. Then quit at a really shitty time for them and encourage other analysts to leave.

That way it’s locked and you fuck them.

They deserve it.
