Commercial I-sales to Multifamily development

Hey guys, working commercial IS in a gateway market, at a top shop, but my ultimate goal is to work in multifamily development. How transferable is the skillset? I rarely work on MF, but I feel like the modeling should be pretty easy to pick up. Has anyone jumped between the two with ease before?

What specifically would you want to do in MF development? Acquisitions/deal making side, or the project management side? Every company is a bit different in how the developers operate. I’m more of a “deal side” role, but I know others that are more of a “PM” role and know some that do it all. That all requires different skill sets.
