JLL phone interview help
I have a phone interview with JLL and it’s my dream company. I really want to nail this phone call. For those who have experience, what can I expect? Is it just a pretty standard phone interview or will it be filled with technical questions?
what role is it for? typically my interviews with them, their questions were more about personality fit and light on the technicals.
It’s a capital markets analyst type of role which is quite different than what I do now but want to get my foot in the door with them.
Are they a tough company to get into? Lots of competition?
Yes, because they're one of the major brokerages that everyone wants to get in to. I ended up going with their competitor. JLL's interviewing process was very slow on hearing back from my perspective.
They are "good guys", nice people, and smart. Their culture, and I mean this in the best way possible, is like they all have the personality of dried cardboard.
Isn't cardboard already dry by default?
Ha, ass....Yes it is.
Curious, why are they your dream firm?
Because he probabaly doesn’t know anything about RE.
OP is probably debt AM guy
I did my internship with them last summer. Transaction group. Pm me if u have questions
Quick question, can you explain what the transactions group is? Keep seeing postings and have no idea what they do. Also do you have any idea about return offers from your group?
The group I was in was involved with both federal transaction and different commercial transaction. I wanted to move into the capital market group this summer but got an offer at a BB so I switched. If you network great and showed that you are interested you will get an offer. Lots of people I knew in different groups all received offers.
I have a final interview this week. Any advice you can lend me?
I'm currently at a JLL competitor in capital markets as an analyst. They’ll ask about why you’re interested and what you bring to the table essentially. My advice to you is to emphasize how the position aligns with your long term goals (i.e eventually become a broker) and bring up your familiarity w financial modeling in the context of real estate. Also you'll be spending a lot of time writing narratives/memo stuff so bring up the subject of how you're a strong researcher/writer.If you can hit these three points and demonstrate some sort of aptitude I'm sure you'll be fine for the preliminary interviews.Hope this helps!
1st call is to make sure you are normal. Luck of the draw tbh. I had a screen call w a JLL recruiter that was a complete dumbass. Just gotta make them like you and demonstrate competency.
Interned for JLL Capital Markets in one of their Southeast offices. The phone call was fairly standard, I was mainly asked questions about my resume, my value-add to the office, with some technical questions scattered throughout (cap rates and related math, DCF, etc.). Happy to answer any questions via pm if you'd like.
