Pivot to NY

Hey everyone, wanted to get some outside thoughts on this especially from people in NY. I took a job out of UG at a mid sized repe firm in Sacramento. Great company and the role is perfect but never sought to be in Sacramento, just thought the role was too good to turn down. I recently visited NY for a few weeks and loved it. Having second thoughts about the job on the west coast.

Question is if I want to get to NY would it be better to do it out of UG or with this firm on a resume in 18 months. I did very well at UG (top of class, 2 years experience at a family office and sourced several deals for them- was given some GP) although it is a state school. Would want to go into repe acquisitions for a larger company in NY.

The firm is well known on the west coast and has 5B AUM. They do opportunistic industrial, office, and retail in primary and secondary markets. Not sure how much they would mean on a resume if I wanted to pivot to a Tishman, Carlyle, etc. in a few years.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
