Certifications for Resume
I am currently enhancing my resume, and I am thinking about taking the exams to be certified in Bloomberg Essentials as well as Microsoft Excel 2010, Microsoft Access 2010.
I am looking for feedback on whether it is beneficiary to have them on my resume? and if so, should I pursue other certifications?
Thank you
The value of those certificate courses will add onto your resumes is minimum.. personality or the internship will really help..but not the certificate of microsoft..
Bloomberg, possibly. Microsoft? No.
Try to do something else to beef up your resume, such as actual licenses or exams that may help you in your field of choice.
Ok thank you very much for the advice, I am currently seeking a Masters of Science in Finance( my bachelors degree is in accounting), what licenses or exams would you recommend?
MSF/MFin is a good choice. What school are you getting it at? Licenses depends on what you want to do. CFA will help you get your foot in the door for AM/ER, and some of the MSF/MFin programs are structured so that you can study for the CFA concurrently. Most go for Level 1 while doing the masters or immediately after, as you can knock the first level out fairly easily since you learn most of it in the program.
CPA if you want to go into accounting, such as the Big 4. However, keep in mind that you can actually hold off on the CFA/CPA, if you would like, since you can utilize your school's OCR for the masters program. Granted, it never hurts to show progression or interest in the CFA/CPA, it isn't as required for getting your foot in the door since you can go through OCR.
Agreed.
Certifications/Licenses on resume (Originally Posted: 07/09/2010)
Under certifications/licenses, I have my real estate license in MA, and i am studying for the series 63.
Question is, if I need to send my resume out now (before I actually pass the 63), is it okay to list something along the lines of......pursuing Series 63 certification, etc...???
Unless the position requires it I wouldn't bother listing it.
Certifications to add to resume for SA recruitment (Originally Posted: 06/16/2014)
Hey guys! I am curious to see what you guys think are the best certifications to add to your resume. I am looking to get certified in something and add it to my resume. Is there anything you guys suggest? I am an incoming junior trying to get interviews for a 2015 SA position.
I would assume something finance-related. The problem is that getting these certifications isn't easy, especially the accounting ones without a lot of practice and/or having taken the classes.
Go for your CPR. You'll receive hands on training, and luckily, there are many Red Cross locations nationwide, so it is very convenient.
I have two insurance licenses.
Doesn't help with anything except my job while at school.
Probably will make you look like a douche bag if you put letters by your name.
