PE Internship Addition to Resume
Hey,
Wondering what I should put in my resume (and how) for my PE internship. Below are some of the things I've done or am in the process of doing (only one month in, two months to go).
-
Conducted due diligence in fund raising process and sourced investor interest in the form of limited partnerships and roadshow funding.
-
Prepared pitchbooks for investor presentations as part of the fundraising process.
-
Performed market analysis and prepared pitchbook presentation to incentivise the South African government to implement tax-relief programs for the local PE and VC industries.
-
Performed extensive competitor research used to clearly identify the funds' niche market and value proposition. Analysis results were presented to LPs during fundraising process.
-
Led management teams in perfecting their pitches and investment proposals to angel investors, and worked to improve the different business models.
-
Actively participated in pitching sessions to angel investors and conferences organised by Firm.
-
In charge of evaluating [several] investment proposals by performing thorough due diligence, DCF analysis, LBO analysis and company comparable analysis. These businesses ranged from start-ups to high growth and mature companies. Firms that passed this screening process were considered for investments by the partners.
-
Met with management teams of potential investments to evaluate the product offering and investment proposal, as well as the management quality.
-
Sourced potential investments by applying an initial due diligence effort and revenue model.
A bit of an explanation: my firm is a growth equity (intersection of PE and VC) firm, but one of the partners is also the CEO of an Angel investor group so I get to work for him as well. Generally, this involves evaluating startups and meeting with them to scrutinize their pitches to see who will make the cut to meet with Angel investors. Let's say we get 10 good startups, I will spend a lot of time "training" them, and getting their pitches to be perfect, as well as perfect their business model. After this (typically a month long process), we organise a conference full of Angels, and the firms get to pitch to the investors. The Angels then invest through us in the firms they liked, and we get fees from this. We also buy in some equity of our own to align interests. After this we act as consultants to the firms until they IPO or sell.
Btw, these bullets are not what I'd actually put, I know I need to quantify etc, but I just want to know which bullets would look best.
Cheers
Bump.
