Summer advice for incoming semi-target freshman

For PWM internships (summer after freshman year) + consulting/wealth management clubs I’ll need a decent resume. I know they don’t expect a ton of experience but more will help me out as these clubs are very competitive. Any advice for what I can do this summer to put on my resume? I’m thinking about online internships, online research projects, etc. but have no idea where to start.
Notes: I’m interested in IB and management consulting, and I plan on working at my local grocery store as a “normal job” this summer.

Honestly, I think any work experience would be helpful and if it’s finance related (even if it’s the most BS thing) even better. I honestly wished I had done this during the summer after my senior year because it definitely did hold me back (I just chilled that summer) when applying for positions this year. Anyways, good luck and congrats on your school!

thanks! what would a “BS” finance-related internship be like? would I just cold call all my local banks / wealth management firms and see if they can come up with something?

see if you can tag along with a friend or any family member to a different state, warm weather, etc. and crash on the couch.

maybe get a few friends together and look for jobs in an area, cram in a place, and spend all your money. did something like this and it was insanely fun and it was good enough to talk about as interesting which is actually a privilege and MUCH more important/valuable than having a PWM internship. much harder to pull off though, but try to have fun is my point and create ‘interesting things about me’ whether it’s running a marathon or getting whatever job that pays for a trip to xyz. I didn’t get help from parents financing tho it seems like it. create your own experiences you won’t have the same freedom later
