Chances for NYU, UT Austin, Cornell???

Hey guys, I was just wondering what you think about my chances in these schools (massive disclaimer, still need to take my GMAT). I'm open to recommendations of you think I should apply elsewhere.

I am:

  • Currently working in Real Estate PE in Asset Management AND underwriting, though my title is asset manager... Definitely a mid sized PE firm, but it has good name recognition and is seen as socially responsible.

  • Nontarget school with a 3.3 GPA, economics BS

  • I worked with a fairly prominent think tank (think CATO/Manhattan/etc.) where my research was published weekly, I also wrote a major piece. The San Diego Union Tribune and the Washington Post also picked up some of my research and featured it

  • economics intern in a developing Latin American country for an agency centered around poverty and economic relief (albeit not very well known agencies)

  • I worked while in undergrad every year except my freshman year (my junior year I worked two jobs)

  • I did research on education outcomes, income stratification as they relate to economics with a professor from Stanford at my U. in the states

  • one summer, I had a really remedial finance internship at a very acclaimed socially responsible firm (also in Latin America)

  • strong leadership positions in different clubs (international politics, model UN, economics honor society, tutoring club for young children) and helped found our university's Red Cross chapter

  • Hispanic male

My condensed story:

I became disillusioned and disgusted working in areas focusing on the public sector/politics (nonprofits, think tanks, government agencies I interned at). Now I want to get an MBA so I can work towards being a private sector leader in the Americas. More specifically, I want to start a socially responsible investment firm in said Latin American country (long term goal, not immediate).

Thanks for the help!

If you apply through the consortium I think you're in at Cornell, and UT Austin since it's lower on the list. Stern, I'm not so sure but I'd give it a shot. In fact, I think Cornell and Stern have RE Master programs you could do.
