studied barely 3 weeks with other stuff on the side and got 324 (157V,167Q).
I think if you can get through a month/6 weeks with consistent hours and good prep material 330 should be doable (I think that's what 95th percentile is more or less). I suggest Kaplan books, they helped me a lot.
Thanks for the info. I actually have a Manhattan Prep book and Kaplan Flash cards. I’m open to buying more materials if needed. I have a lot of time to study and am prepared to do whatever it takes to get a top score.
My advice is allocate at least a couple hours for exercises per day and it shouldn't take too long to prepare. The 5 lb. Manhattan book is great to get practice but this is the book I was referring to: https://amzn.eu/d/2COrAWp
good luck with the test and with admissions!
Bro, I got a 162 verbal by studying vocab an hour for 3-4 weeks from a free copy of a book I found on the internet. Math I was already good at - engineering background plus just my thing.
Don’t need to spend too much money. Pick one resource and go to town on it.
I am not a native speaker, so had to go town on remembering words and synonyms. If you need to prep both, a month or two should be enough to get a 330+ as long as you strategize and spend an hour a day each (given you are not terrible at math).
And you can revise anywhere, like I made word list and would just look at it while walking to work or waiting on someone.
My writing is generally good and got ~92 percentile with a day of looking at it.
How about MaGoosh books? Heard some positive things about that GRE prep book and was looking into purchasing for studying for my masters of business administration
I recently downloaded 3 MaGoosh apps to study as well.
I just bought an online study prep called Target Test Prep - GRE for 6 months for $161. Seems like a good deal.
I prepped with TTP plus a hardcopy Princeton Review textbook and the Magoosh vocabulary mobile app. TTP was the best resource. 2.5 months prep time 321 --> 334 (168V 166Q 5.5W)
Wow - thanks for the feedback! Nice job. I am using all these resources now! I was on TTP for 2hrs today and found it very helpful with immediate detailed feedback for answers. Also, it seems very cheap! Good price @ $161 for 6mo of access.
I like it how the calculator and questions are similar or equal to the actual GRE test.
I did the practice test today with no revision and got 157V / 159Q , wondering what that gets up to in 2 months after some revision, what tools have you found the most useful?
I have found Target Test Prep and the free Magoosh vocab app to be the most useful so far, but I haven’t been studying that much lately. Are you looking at MBA programs? Where do you want to go?
I’m probably going to apply to deferred MBA programs given that I’m still in undergrad
I scored 580 on my GMAT diagnostic test as well so don’t know yet which one I should prepare for, the GRE or the GMAT
