Hey there! So, you're curious about Rutgers Business School (RBS) and its standing in the IB world, huh? Let's dive into what the WSO content has to say:
Semi-Target or Non-Target: Based on the WSO threads, Rutgers is often considered a good non-target school for banking. It's not traditionally listed among the "target" schools, but it has a strong enough reputation to not be dismissed as a non-target either. It's in that sweet spot where with the right moves, you can definitely make a splash in the IB scene.
Breaking into IB: It seems that Rutgers has a decent track record of placing students into investment banking roles. A search on LinkedIn, as mentioned in one of the threads, shows several alumni at reputable firms like Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, Citi, and others. This indicates that while it may not be a traditional target, it's got some good traction in the industry.
GPA Insights: While there isn't a specific GPA mentioned in the threads for RBS, the general consensus across the board is that a high GPA is crucial, especially from a non-target. You'd want to aim for the highest GPA possible, but as a rule of thumb, a 3.5 or above could be competitive, and getting close to or above a 3.9 could really set you apart.
Remember, breaking into IB is a combination of your academic performance, networking, internships, and how well you can sell your story. So, while GPA is important, don't forget to focus on the other aspects as well. Keep swinging for the fences, and you might just hit that home run into IB!

I assume you are talking about RBS undergrad in New Brunswick versus their business school in Newark for Masters. If so, Undergrad does have a decent number of people getting into IB compared to other non target schools (unfortunately, depending on the bank it’s either a semi or non). GPA wise, you’ll need to have at least a 3.7 or 3.8 to stand out from your classmates. There are a bunch of clubs that you can join and specific classes that are tailored for IB.
