SMU MBA
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to ask about SMU MBA program and its placement into the Texas market for IB associates and potentially some other Buyside roles. I understand coming from one of these schools will not place best on the street, but looking at the alumni it seems that they place decently.
My concern is the schools ranking for top MBA's. Just wanted to get some perspective on the school, as it seems very reasonable to get into with a decent GMAT score.
CompliConsultant, have you checked out these or run a search:
If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
SMU places well in Dallas - this perspective comes from my familiarity with kids from the undergrad program. Most of the buyside/IB placement will come from those in SMU's undergrad program, I'd look carefully at what their backgrounds are.
In the MBA world I'm not entirely sure (honestly haven't seen many and the program feels weak)... I'm sure you could hustle your way in but you will definitely be second class to the UT MBAs and maybe even Rice. Why not go to UT or Rice?
They do not place well at all in Houston energy banking. I was very involved in Associate recruiting at my bank this past year, and we did not interview a single SMU MBA. Go to McCombs or Rice.
