Strength of Waterloo?

Hey everyone - Canadian high school student (class of ‘24) interested in pursuing high finance.

I’m interested in doing systems design engineering at Waterloo, which seems to have carved out a decent quant presence but still seems to be an unorthodox location for FO recruiting.
However, I’ve heard recently that Waterloo placements for BBs has improved recently, especially for engineering kids. Can anyone comment on the strength of the Waterloo-IB pipeline in 2023?

Seems a lot of confusion in this thread, Uwaterloo has a lot of placements into BBs for vol/algo trading worldwide. Select BB asian offices especially. Software/ece/systems usually the top recruited programs along with top talent from math department.

Very unlikely anyone studying systems engineering wants to do banking but never know but the roles the OP is discussing is on s&t side.
