Leaving BB - Advice on how to do it (and what to do next)

So I lateraled from a boutique firm to a mid tier BB around 9 months ago, with a “bad feeling” about my team but couldn’t let the opportunity go. Long story short, my desk is an absolute hell. I have 4 VPs and they are known to be crazy and people have left in the past or changed groups. I have already tried to fix this by talking to our director, situation didn’t change and there is nothing to do.

It’s been really hard staying this long (want to quit basically every day). But this is my plan and I would like to hear your thoughts/advice.

Ive been applying to several roles and am in the late stages of interviewing with a fintech startup that raised 100M+ series C. Around 150 employees, so not a big name yet. It’s a high level position but on a new team, so I don’t know if it’s a great exit or not. Been applying to other BBs but they are slower and haven’t heard back as I just applied.

I am thinking, I have a clawback for my relo if I leave before the year mark. It hurts me to lose that money, mainly because I got fucked by my bosses and my BB, after they completely lied to me about the culture/job.

But if I get an offer from the startup, I doubt they will wait for me 2-3 months.

On the other hand, I have a good feeling about this startup opportunity, and desperately want to leave my team and never look back.

It’s a bit early as I haven’t gotten the offer, but what should I do if I do get it?

Even If I don’t get the offer, I also don’t know if i’ll be able to withstand 3 more months of torture. I’m at my limit.

I do want to get out, so in a way it’s the only lifeline in sight for now. But the clawback is a pain in the ass. I also don’t know if leaving before the exact 1 year mark is the same as leaving at the 10-11 month mark. I guess I could    stretch a few days the dates in my CV.

Am I excited? to be honest, I don’t know. I am more scared than excited. Mainly because I don’t want the same situation to repeat and have to endure another year of mental abuse and anxiety at a new company.

It could be a good opp, as they also pay with equity. The job can be completely remote (up to me). Hours will be better (currently averaging 60-65 hours a week), like 50 per week tops.

Probably should finish 1 year at the BB before jumping if you can ideally and recruit in the new year, maybe some better opportunities will pop up on the radar. What sector are you getting crushed in or is it just the group culture\?
