Move from tech to trading
Hello everyone.
I am a business analyst at Amazon graduating in March. Bachelor’s in finance and MSc in statistics. I am studying to join as applied scientist at Amazon and in 6/7 months I should be able to change role. I am still really uncertain on what to do in my life and one of my biggest regrets is not having done a finance internship. I was wondering, if I work as an applied scientist at Amazon for 2/3 years and decide to move to trading it is feasible or it is better to try to make the move immediately ? Do you know anyone that joined trading later in life ?
Regards.
Why consider moving from Amazon as a BA to begin with? don't they pay big bucks?
As regards big bucks. In the EU the tech scene is a joke. They do not pay US salaries. Finance is more competitive, usually the discrepancy is 2x as graduate and it increases with time.
The people I've seen that moved to trading late 20s/early 30s all have product knowledge from working in middle office, tech, or quant/strat and networked their way into trading.
Thanks for the reply. It is fine I have to go to middle office and network my way to FO. I wanted to know if that is feasible with already 2/3 yoe or not at all.
