Older traders
It seems like FICC traders in general are much younger than PMs and partners in other industries like pe, hf, re, etc. Where are these traders going? It doesn’t seem like there are that many HF seats, so what else are they doing? AM?

Comm trader.
Idk man I always thought our floor is old lmao.
As for the older traders...they retired, they make enough to spend for the rest of their life.
There’s definitely a decent chunk of 45-55s at multi managers, likely don’t need money to retire but just want to take a few more cracks at the bat. Also hear stories about 35 year olds who retire early to spend time with their families. But also a lot of people in my sector in that 35+ age bracket are no longer digging for gold but selling shovels instead, working as sales or support people for data providers/bloomberg/eikon.
