Sales & Trading to Research?
Currently, in a Sales & Trading rotational program, I am in my first-year rotation sitting on a credit trading seat. After speaking with many members of my team and thinking about what I want out of my career long term, I realised that I do not want to be a market maker for the long term; but rather be able to take calculated directional positions based on convictions.
I am currently in the interview process for a research associate role at a large asset manager in NYC and in the interview process for an Equity Research Role.
Overall, trying to find the best training ground to set me up to eventually be a PM in the long run.

I have been pondering the prospects of doing a similar thing, but from an intern into a full time position. I am quite unsure about it though. Any thoughts?
Have you tried reaching to the desk analysts within credit; they do deep dives and give trade ideas for the desk. That could be an option for you as well, and they give actionable ideas and often transition to HFs
