What is the most common major(s) for traders?
Also, is there a particular background that is common with traders? Like with elite Ivy being very common with IB?
Thanks for you help.

math, stat background is very helpful
agree with ibanalyst that those majors are helpful, but I find that the majority of traders were not math majors, engineers, or programmers. most at my bank are econ, finance, or some random major that has nothing to do with anything.
If you want the best shot at any trading job, math or comp sci.
I've seen anything from history to mathematics to weird majors. As long as you have a good knack for numbers, understand streams of data, and can see the big picture, you're already in good shape!
