Growth Equity Recruitment Timeline (Associate)
Joining FT IB in July and was wondering if there is an "on-cycle" type process for GE like there is for PE. Do you recruit 2 years in advance for GE as well? I truly have no idea how this works. Interested in firms such as Summit, TCV, Lead Edge, Level Equity, FTV, Insight, etc. Open to hearing about any others' processes as well. Any help with this would be much appreciated.
Lead Edge uses GloCap I believe. You can also network/reach out to ask and get in their processes as well. Source: joining one of the aforementioned funds via networking.
so whats the process like? I start FT also in August, do I have to be interview ready by September or can I actually spend a year learning on the job and go from there or will I miss all the ops?
Is there any particular level/title people should aim to network with? With regards to cold emails
Regarding the process, you will either get headhunter emails or you will have to reach out. I recommend reaching out at the end of the year as the spots are decided a year beforehand for some of the firms; however, staying for a year is still fine. I came from the West Coast top target (GS TMT/MS Menlo/Qatalyst) and am in the East Coast, so I had to do networking. I recommend cold emailing Associates/VPs and going from there.
Thank you!
Is there any possibility of leaving IB after one year vs. two for these firms?
