How much mobility is there in partners moving across funds in EMEA VC scene?

Hi there,

Joined a strong European VC a few months ago as a mid-level hire, and very curious about partner dynamics. I'm performing well and have a unique background. I know in some industries, becoming a partner basically ties you to that first for a LONG time (7+ years) due to carry and other reasons.

I'm curious how much mobility there is in European VC at partner level. Do people move from partner roles to operator roles, or partner roles at other funds with any regularity? Being locked in for seven years sounds terrifying.

Would appreciate any input, EMEA VC in particular is a black box.
