Not Having any Luck With PWM

For my freshman summer, I wanted to get an internship. So I've cold call a few places in my city. Most of the major banks does not have a WM division since they were just satellite offices. Others said told me to just look online and apply from there. Some said they don't take in unpaid internship because its against the regulation or something along the line.

I have just a few more places to call. Maybe there is something wrong with my approach. For some, I talk with the HR. For others, I go on Linkedin and looked up the executive of the WM division and ask to speak with them. I am direct with my approach and say that I am interested in a WM internship.

I usually ask for the internship and then prosposed an unpaid alternative.

What else could I be doing?
