Advice for applying to consulting internships
Hi, this is my first post after checking the site out for some time.
Right now I'm a rising junior trying to land an internship in some kind of business technology/consulting role after a summer internship in engineering that I didn't think was too interesting. I'm an electrical engineering major at a semi-target with the big four actively recruiting on the school job pages.
The problem for me is that I did horrifically badly my freshman year and then turned it around sophomore year averaging a 3.5. My core gpa is around a 3.7 but my cumulative is a 3.0.
On the applicant profile of my school's job website it makes you put in your GPA and major to be whatever you want. Yet on the job pages for Deloitte, PwC, etc.. they have minimum gpa requirements of 3.2 and 3.4 to even allow the option of applying to the internships for a chance at an on campus interview.
I was thinking about just sticking in my core gpa on my profile so that I could just put in my resume and write a really persuasive cover letter (I've been researching consulting and enjoy the diversity of projects and business aspect) in order to break in.
Do you guys think I even have a chance or anything? I'm thinking I won't be getting under a 3.8 from now til the end of senior year after I figured out my strategy for school.
Can you retake a class or two without having to spend too much money/time and without it being a huge blemish? I retook two D's from my first semester out of high school much later in college and got A's in both, which really helped.
