Background Check: ZeroChaos

I just got offered an internship and ZeroChaos will be handling my payroll and background screening. When I was 17, I got a DWI for marijuana.

I didn't submit a formal application. Rather, I submitted my resume through the job listing on my school's career site. I wasn't asked about my background.

How should I approach this? Should I call the interviewer and tell her the situation? Should I call the ZeroChaos rep and tell them? Should I just wait until they bring it up?

Will they even bring it up, or will the offer just be rescinded?

tl;dr:
DWI at 17. What do I do now to keep the offer?

Wait DWI for marijuana? Does this even make sense? I've never gotten one so unsure of classifications.

Yeah, it was bullshit. I was being an idiot 17-year-old and pissing off the cop. He decided to fuck my shit up.

It was a misdemeanor.

misdemeanors are OK i'm 98% sure. Even the CFA doesn't care about that kind of stuff

I think it should be fine. I had a friend who was in a similar position, and he got his job alright. If they don't say anything, don't bring it up

Get that expunged asap. I ran into a similar problem with an internship last year. I had an open container in Florida when I was 18, they red flagged it in my background check and I had to go through all types of bullshit to show that it was not prosecuted and it was off my record. Missed out on almost half the summer at the internship just trying to get all the paperwork in order. Companies look for anything these days not to hire you. Hopefully you get lucky and it doesn't come up but I'm telling you geting it expunged will make for much less of a headache.

I received supervision, which I think means that I wasn't convicted; so it can't be expunged. But I'm not sure.

Does it make sense to see a DUI lawyer and see what my options are? Seems like there would be some conflict of interest because I don't know whether there's any money to be made off of me since this was four years ago. What do you guys think?

Meanwhile, is the consensus to not say anything to anybody and hope for the best? I worry that they may drop me without even asking me about it. They never asked, so I didn't bring it up.

you need to do a background check on yourself and make sure you don't have a misdemeanor for narcotics possesion. If its just a DWI then you don't have to worry.

This.

Do a background check on yourself and make sure it doesn't come up. If anything does I would suggest speaking with the prosecutor and getting any paperwork they have showing what (sounds like nothing) came of it. Just in case the firm finds it and has any questions. When my violation got flagged I had been in constant contact with the firm to make sure everything was going smoothly so they alerted me and that's when I had to get a bunch of paperwork and things notarized etc. So I would say do your own background check then stay on top of the process so you'll know if anything comes up.
