Best Money Spent to Survive the 2012 Apocalypse

Hello fellow Monkeys,

I looked up the calendar today and I see December 21, 2012. End of the world right? I’m sure a lot of people are anxious to see how the Mayan prophecy plays out. Thanks to internet and the Hollywood movie, the 2012 apocalypse is probably the most popular one yet.

One in seven (14%) global citizens agree ‘the world will come to an end during my lifetime,’ according to a new poll by global research company Ipsos on behalf of Reuters News.

So people got creative and made a ton of doomsday-related stuff. Of course, other people bought them:

  • "Enjoy by 12.21.12" IPA by Stone Brewing Company (haven’t tried, heard it’s actually good) - $7.99
  • Beyond 2012 Survival, Trauma, and Disaster 2 Person Escape Kit - $199.95
  • "End of the World" package from The Keating Hotel which includes a last supper and fitness classes aimed at outrunning zombies. - $666
  • Ticket to cataclysm-proof bunker in the mountains near Lhasa, Tibet - $8,000
  • "The Ultimate New Beginning" package, which includes a spiritual cleansing with a Mayan shaman priest along with a private helicopter ride to a tour of architectural sites. - $79,000
  • An underground backyard bunker complete with a sofa, television, and an escape hatch - $100,000
  • A luxury model of steel-and-fiberglass floating sphere that can contain and sustain as many as nine people for months - $800,000
  • And then…

  • Walking out of a giant steel ball on December 22 in utter disappointment - priceless

So have you guys done things differently this year? Stocked up on food and water? Took extra time off to enjoy life? Bought a giant steel ball?
