Best snowboarding spots
I'm a fan of snowboarding, but I didn't start until a few years ago. I want to plan my winter out so I need some ideas on the best spots to find a bad-ass run. What's your favorite spots to hit the slopes?
I've been mostly on the East Coast to places like Catamount and the Poconos (of course!)
Whistler in BC
I'm going back to Whistler again this year. Apparently the PNW does awesome during La Nina, plus with the $0.74 CAD/USD rate, lift tickets are like $75 USD.
Word. Exchange rate is looking nice rn
Mammoth Mountain in California's Sierra Nevada is one of the best spots in the country hands down. However, the demographic is mostly 18 and under with families and then 35+ as it's not cheap, but the mountain is huge and the scenery is beautiful. If you just care about A+ snowboarding and good beer and food I'd highly recommend it.
Steamboat. Consistently solid snow and great runs makes it hard to beat.
I think Breckinridge is really good for boarders because there's a lot of big steep smooth bomb runs that are easily accessible. It's not like Vail where you have to catwalk to the good bowls.
East Coast: Loon for the park & Stowe for the woods West Coast: Vail for the bowls/woods, but they can be a hassle to get to. Breckenridge is pretty sweet too. Although i've only been to CO. Would love to check out Utah, California or BC.
Too bad this amazing sport/activity is so expensive. About five years ago an east coast day pass was around $60 now their closer to $100. A little too much to wait in lift lines and slide around on ice.
