Timing on Year End Bonuses?

Just curious on when most of you know what your bonuses will actually be and when your firm actually hands them over? I've been used to some form of December "performance review" where my bonus amount was provided and then typically mailed out in check form towards the end of December.

First year with a new firm, nothing has been said on bonuses. Wondering if it's inappropriate to ask my boss what the fuck I'm getting and when the fuck I can expect it. :)

If I were you, I would try to see if there's a peer that you work with whom you trust that you can just casually ask on the timing. That way, if something is up and others have gotten theirs and you haven't gotten one, or if no one has gotten theirs yet, you won't come off as over-eager.

"Who am I? I'm the guy that does his job. You must be the other guy."
