Can't even find a temp job. What are some things that I can do?

I have been applying places even for short term employment. Funny thin is, the disorganized recruiters tel me they match me to a job, then they tell the position was actually a senior position or its been filled etc.
I applied to three support type jobs, requirements: Highschool Diploma or GED, 1+ yrs in financial industry
From those jobs, I got 0 responses.

I still have one shot left, but before I do that I have been trying to brainstorm on what other things I could pursue. My number 1 goal out of school was relocate & find a job within 6 months - I failed those two.

I think I'll be able to snag a job researching potential acquisitions for a M&A, PE advisory firm. Its a long commute which I won't mind. Would need to purchase a car though, last car I bought was a lemon. But, at this point I don't even have an offer to do that.

I need ideas. Today I was asked in an interview: why haven't you found a job yet, and what have you been doing this whole time . I think that's a question that most recruiters have now, and will weigh heavier in their minds as time passes by. Any ideas on next steps?

If all else fails you can find a meaningful career and life outside your industry of choice. Maybe even something a little unrelated to your degree. You only have one life and you can consume yourself for it trying to live up to some standard that doesn't matter. The happiest people I know aren't materialistic. I need to get more that way myself some day.

I have been researching other careers: operations, project management, sales (short term). I submitted my first app earlier today. Do you have any ideas on other good positions/ career paths?

**How is my grammar? Drop me a note with any errors you see!**

Accounts payable doesn't require anything. It isn't terribly difficult and is performed by many without a college degree, although the labor market is bad enough that some places require a degree.

I would look at purchasing as well. The initial jobs aren't always the most lucrative, but you can make similar money to accounting. Plus it's a bit more tangible than many support roles. Making numbers go from point A to point B isn't all that amazing. Buying $100 million a year in shit is kind of cool.
