Carbon Emissions

Just was wondering what people thought of this area in Trading. I'm looking to join groups in a month or so, and this is near the top of my list (in London, of course, if it even is hiring, which I doubt). Any thoughts?

p.s. to spike the punch a bit, some people say it's what the CDS market was 7 or 8 years ago, in terms of potential and growth...

yeah...it's a market with great prospects although i'm quite unsure whether it will eventually flourish...there have been quite a few markets in the last few years, said to become huge, but they did not stand up to the expectations. Examples: weather derivatives, catastrophe bonds etc...

if the US takes on Kyoto, emissions trading will be HUGE. right now, lots of banks are ramping up this thing but liquidity still SUCKS. not sure about the european market.

Will you get exposure to coal and other commodities? If you get cross commodity experience, that will be an experience I'd jump on. If it's just emissions, might still be a gamble.
